International workshop on water quality assessment held among TumenNet member states
The International workshop on water quality assessment was held at National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) on Oct.13-24, 2003. Sixteen experts from the member states of the TumenNet and TRADP (Tumen River Area Development Programme) participated at the workshop. The countries represented included China, Russia, and Mongolia; invitation was made also for North Korea, however the country was not represented due domestic circumstances.

In particular, China, North Korea, and Russia are recognizing that the Tumen rivers water quality preservation has a direct relation to the security of water resources in the region. In this backdrop, the international workshop on water quality assessment conveys the significance in a view of fully comprehending the water situation in the region.
The agendas of the workshop included discussing shared and/or varying ISO (International Organization for Standardization) analysis methods among the participating countries on heavy metals and nutritive salts , as well as undergoing practical trainings on statistics handling and standard managements.
