Korea Environment Institute (KEI) and UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) holds Asian-Pacific Consultations of Gleneagles Dialogue titled ¡°Workshop on business models and financial frameworks to scale up responses to climate change, clean energy and sustainable development,¡± at Lotte Hotel, Seoul, on July 18th and 19th, 2007.
The workshop is held with the aid by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and Department for International Development (DFID) of United Kingdom.
Gleneagles Dialogue is the body for dialogue organized based on the Plan of Actions agreed by G8 Summits in 2005, including Brazil, China, India, Mexico, and South Africa.
Gleneagles Dialogue, aiming at continuous discussion on basic energy demands among participating and non-participating countries, seeks for long-term resolution for climate change, climate system after 2012, and stabilization of the concentration of greenhouse gases.
The issues that this workshop deals with, would be, transformation into low carbon economy, climate change in Asia and the Pacific, adaptation to climate change and link with national development, role of private sector, business and policy models and etc.
It is expected that the result of the workshop will be reflected to Gleneagles Dialogue and Energe investment Framworks by understanding opportunities and system to strenghten the measures for climate change and clarify future action plans of Asia and the Pacific region.
