2005 Water quality inspection result on drinking water quality & over standard rate facilities
The water quality inspection result on water supply facilities and tap water of the first half of the year 2005 was 0.6% showing an improved progress compare to the result of second half of the year 2004 which was 1.5%.
The water quality inspection was introduced to grow awareness, concern and trust from public on safety and clean water in Korea.
The inspection will be placed to a total of 3,263 different facilities. There are 9 of them which have been founded to exceed its result of 0.6%, standard water quality rate.
Nevertheless still it is a progressed result compared to the result in 2004 which has proved 46 facilities had been over the level 1.5%
Observing the regional exceeded limitation rate of small-scale water supply and sewage system, and small-scale supply facilities which have shown to be the highest exceeded limitation rate, Gyeongsangnam-do province presented the facilities with the highest rate of 13.4% (9 out of 67 facilities), Gyungi-do province was 7.7%(2 out of 26 facilities) and Jeollanam-do province was 4.3% (1 out of 23 facilities) Based on above results, Individual local governments will strive to enforce and strength their small-scale supply facilities with fulfilling development plans for water quality standards that each region has come up with.
This water quality inspection will be placed particularly to the 9 facilities which have been exceeded the limit of water standard. The water standard will be based on the categories of 5 different chlorines, bacillus and acids.
In order to resolve the problem of small-scale water-supply system, the Ministry of Environment will enhance the implementation of excellent managing innovation plan on small-scale supply system based on its evaluation and its result. MOE will help and support 5 local provinces with 4 billion won and work further to build a sustainable management for water supply facilities in the future.
